COIDA letter of good standing
The COIDA letter of good standing is the letter from the Compensation Fund confirming that an employer is registered under the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act and that its return of earnings and payments are up to date. Registered employers generate it online. Every contractor's safety file needs it, and principal contractors must check it before work starts.
The letter has a certificate number that the client can use to check it, and a date until which it is valid. Clients reject expired letters, so check it covers your job.
SafetyFileBuilder reads your letter when you upload it, notes its validity date, files it in every safety file that needs it, and tells you before it runs out.

Questions
Why won't my letter of good standing generate?
Usually because a return of earnings is outstanding or an assessment, penalty or interest is unpaid. Submit the outstanding returns and pay, then try again.
How long is a letter of good standing valid?
The letter shows its own validity date. The Fund issues it once a year, or monthly by special arrangement, so check the date on yours against the job's end date.
How does a client check my letter?
With the certificate number on the letter, which the Compensation Fund can validate.
Is the letter of good standing the same as COIDA registration?
No. Registration makes you an employer on the Fund's books; the letter confirms you are registered and up to date with returns and payments.
